Rugged Cross to Bear

Rugged Cross To Bear

WRITTEN BY: CAMERON BLAKE

The rooster crows at the break of dawn
But I’ve been hearin’ him all night long
“I’m losing”

Give me 20 minutes to be by myself
If I think real hard, I can figure it out
It’s crawling near

There’s a waiting room
With an empty chair
And the president isn’t sittin’ there
‘cause it’s a rugged cross to bear

I lost my money, I lost my home
Down in the valley of the great unknown
of foolish cares

With one foot in and one foot out
If the economy’s crumbling I can’t hear a sound
We’re moving fear

To another town
To another year
I don’t ask myself why we’re movin’ there
‘cause it’s a rugged cross to bear

Hey, hey, hey, better put your gun down
there ain’t nobody gonna hold you when the chips are down!

There’s a waiting room
With an electric chair
and the king of love keeps sitting there

I can’t hear a sound
From the jaws of fear
The switch goes down
and he’s still sitting there
He’s still sitting there
‘cause it’s a rugged cross to bear
It’s a rugged cross to bear
